The Next Doctor?

Well, the two minute preview for The Next Doctor has just aired on BBC1 as part of the Children In Need show. I've already watched it three times...and now I want more! I can't wait 'til Christmas! What a tease...I just hope David Morrissey is the new Doctor & not an impostor, as some fans have speculated. I love his costume & even from his brief screen time so far can tell he'll be a brilliant Doctor! 'Allons-y' indeed.

Dalek Saucer Bloop?

I've just been watching The Dalek Invasion of Earth on DVD and noticed a bloop when watching with the CGI effects enabled - the shots of the Dalek ship when it has landed resemble the old 'tin-can' one, not the newer Dalek Saucer. Anyone else noticed this?

Are we to assume the CGI one is a mother-ship of some sort? I'll see if the Restoration Team guys know about this...

Babelcolour Videos - THE DOCTOR & THE MASTER

I've always loved BabelColour's videos, here's two dedicated to the Doctor & the Master:

Cubicle 7 Entertainment to publish new Doctor Who Role Playing Game

Many years ago I played a Doctor Who RPG via email with several other fans like myself, as I couldn't find any players in my area. The game rules we used were TIME LORD: Adventures through Time & Space by Ian Marsh and Peter Darvill-Evans, published by Virgin in 1991. What fun it was taking the role of a character in the same universe of my favourite TV series & having adventures! For those who don't know, a role playing game is a game which requires a few dice, rulebooks & lots of imagination - Dungeons & Dragons & Gamma World being some of the first examples to hit the market. I could explain more, but i'm lazy - so here's a link if you wanna find out more.
There have so far been two RPGs based on DW to hit the market, the first was FASA's Doctor Who Role Playing Game in 1985, and followed by Virgin's TIME LORD in 1991.
FASA's Doctor Who RPG
I personally prefer the TIME LORD rules because, in my humble opinion, they fit the feel of the show better than FASA's version. The only downside is that TIME LORD was not marketed very well & produced no supplements (other than a DWM article) like FASA's version did.
Still, the future of role playing in the DW universe is about to change, with the announcement for Cubicle 7 Entertainment to release the Doctor Who - Adventures in Time and Space Role-Playing Game early next year. Not much info yet, except that those who have play tested it give their thumbs up.
Well, in the mean time you can download Time Lord online here as it has been released as a free PDF by it's authors.
So, get your mates together for game & have loads of fun! Oh, and you might wanna throw Abslom Daak in there somewhere too.

Torrent Watch: Dragonfire

Dragonfire
Up for grabs here is the Seventh Doctor story Dragonfire (1987), which is the first story to feature Ace. The files in the torrent are FLV (Flash Video) format ripped from YouTube which (although hardly of quality for burning to DVD) is still good enough for playback on your computer. If you can't play FLV files, try MPlayer.

The Betrothal of Sontar : Short Review

The Betrothal of Sontar
Panini Comics have published the first collection of Tenth Doctor & Rose comic strips featured in DWM into a collection titled The Betrothal of Sontar. There are some really fantastic stories in there, my favourite being the title strip featuring the return of the Sontarans (which may have inspired their return in the 2008 series). There's a strange strip titled The Green-Eyed Monster which I think is some kind of Babel fish tribute and the return of the Brigadier in The Warkeeper's Crown (the last strip, which i'm delving into tomorrow when I get the chance). Highly recommended for fans of the show & comics in general, some brilliant writing & artwork in there...and at 180 pages it's a bigger read than I thought it would be! You can order your copy at Forbidden Planet.

Doctor Who Roundtable with Stephen Moffat @ Comic-Con

We all know by now the Stephen Moffat is taking over from Russell T Davies as producer of Doctor Who after the 2009 specials, and here's an interview I found on YouTube from Comic-Con '08 where he reveals his love for the show & also the direction he wants to take it once Davies hands it over into his hands...

Welcome to The Hand Of Omega!

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea is asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace; we've got work to do!" - The Seventh Doctor, 'Survival'.
